About ELAN
ELAN Hair & Spa is the continuing vision of a remarkable woman, Crystal E. Hohenwarter. Crystal was an inspiration to anyone who had the fortune to know her. Her beauty, patience and ever present positive outlook on life gave you renewed energy any time you had the opportunity to be in her presence. She motivated others and helped them aspire to achieve their dreams. Crystal also had the ability to see the beauty in all of us both internal and external. It only seemed natural for her to be a hair stylist and part of the health and beauty profession. Sadly, we lost Crystal to breast cancer in February 2000. Under the leadership of her husband Steve, we strive to continue the legacy of this extraordinary person to find the beauty within ourselves and others. The strength of ELAN lies in its history, beliefs, standards and visions for the future.

In celebration of our 20th Anniversary in 2008, we commissioned artist Freiman Stoltzfus

to create a portrait of our founder and inspiration Crystal Hohenwarter.

EDUCATION
ELAN believes success and personal growth comes through education. Our rigorous training program for new team members and continued education ensures that every member of our team provides the latest trends, techniques and product knowledge to our clients. We regularly attend Aveda Education courses, Aveda Advanced Academy and Master classes as well as in salon classes taught by ELAN’s Artistic Director and educators.

Aveda Education classes are led by Aveda guest artists—educators, editorial artists, global masters and salon owners who set the tone and direction for technical innovation, fashion and service delivery around the world. Classes taught at creative learning centers where salon and spa professionals come to enhance their technical skill and source new inspiration.

Every year four of our team members partner with Aveda·“behind the scenes” backstage at Fashion Week in New York City. Aveda’s partnering designers include: Thakoon, Temperley London, Rodarte, 3.1, Leanne Marshall, Christian Siriano, Philip Lim, Ports 1961 and Mark Bouwer. Aveda has chosen to partner with fashion designers who share the same commitment aligned with Aveda’s founding principles of environmentally sustainable business practices.

Community Involvement
We believe a person can positively influence the world around by the simple act of kindness.
ELAN remains committed to the community, focusing its efforts on giving back to charitable organizations. We provide monetary donations, gift baskets, gift certificates to local charitable organizations, and national campaigns such as American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, American Heart Association, Earth Month, Women and Children's Domestic Violence groups, and others.
