ELAN Hair and Spa is an Aveda™ Concept Salon. As a Concept salon, we are committed to exclusively using Aveda products in the services that we provide to our guests. Aveda products are made with pure plant and flower essences. The Aveda company is committed to environmentally and socially-conscious leadership. Members of the ELAN team wear Aveda make-up and use Aveda hair care and skin care products as part of their daily health and beauty rituals. In addition, we enhance the overall guest experience by utilizing the Aveda concept of value added services in our salon environment. Examples include:
- A stress-relieving scalp & shoulder massage with Aveda essential oils for all guests prior to any hair service.
- A facial steam towel and skincare service for men during their shampoo and conditioning treatment service.
- A three to five minute make-up 'finishing touch' for women at the conclusion of each service.
We also agree to make a commitment to take care of ourselves, to nurture others and to preserve the world around us. Issues of social and environmental responsibility begin with each of us as individuals and our actions often help bring about change in others. Recycling, participating in community events and contributing to charitable causes are some examples of our responsibility to the earth. As a team, ELAN recycles empty product packaging, participates in the American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life event and donates services to many organizations throughout the year to better the communities in which we live. Q. What is the history of ELAN and why do you talk about the salon's "vision"?
ELAN Hair & Spa is the continuing vision of a remarkable woman, Crystal E. Hohenwarter. Crystal was an inspiration to anyone who had the fortune to know her. Her beauty, patience and ever present positive outlook on life gave you renewed energy any time you had the opportunity to be in her presence. She motivated others and helped them aspire to achieve their dreams. Crystal also had the ability to see the beauty in all of us … both internal and external. It only seemed natural for her to be a hair stylist and part of the health and beauty profession. At ELAN, we strive to continue the legacy of this extraordinary person; to find the beauty within ourselves and others and bring it to the surface. In other words, to make every day a great day … a great day at ELAN! ELAN began in February 1988 as a partnership between Crystal and Susan Andrejev and was originally known as ELAN Hair Design. ELAN was primarily a hair salon at that time but, as the business grew, we began to offer other personal services to our guests, beginning with manicures and pedicures and, eventually, massage and facials. We also used other product lines throughout our history, including Kenra hair products and Wella color, to name a few. In 1991, Crystal became the sole owner of the salon. Our relationship with Aveda began during that time and is an important part of where we are today. In the years that followed, ELAN continued to grow but faced it's most difficult challenge when Crystal developed breast cancer. Undaunted, Crystal continued with her vision and the business was renamed to ELAN Hair & Spa to reflect our full service salon environment. Although we lost Crystal in February 2000, her legacy continues under the leadership of her husband, Stephen Hohenwarter, as we continue to bring beauty and stress relief to our community. |
